Michaela was born into a Muslim family in Sierra Leone on January 6, 1995. Her story started with the deadly and deafening sounds of war. After losing both parents, the poor girl is adopted by a woman who changes her life.

Almost thirty years later, Michaela gave her mother a surprise that will leave you speechless. She was named Mabinti Bangura by her parents, but the country was experiencing a Civil War at the time of her birth, so it didn’t take long for her to lose both of them.

Her dad was killed in the conflict, and her mother died of starvation and fever at a young age. She was already an orphan when her parents died, so she moved in with her uncle, but he saw her as a burden and gave her up for adoption at the orphanage.

The social workers mistreated her, and she was given the number 27, which is designated for the least favourite child there. This was because of the fact that she had a rare skin condition called Vitiligo, which caused discolouration on her face and neck. She was referred to as a Devil’s Child by the orphanage staff, who neglected her and fed her poorly.

On top of that, they thought she was ugly and unsuitable for adoption because the young girl had nowhere to go and had to grow up in appalling conditions. Fortunately, she found comfort in another black girl at the orphanage, who, surprisingly, was also named Mabunti and was assigned the number 26. the two mebintis became best friends and enjoyed each other’s company despite the bullying from the other kids and adults they loved playing eating and going to school together one day while sitting outside the orphanage something truly remarkable happened at Augusta wind blew an old dance magazine right in our mebinty’s face on the magazine cover was the picture of a fair-skinned ballerina.

Who was standing on her toes in a pink tudu the dancer looked so beautiful and happy the picture caught her eyes and she realized taking that same path would make her happy so mabinti decided to become a professional ballerina when she came of age.
