Sad: When This Dying 9 Year Old Boy Said “I Gotta Quit,” His Dad’s Reply Was Utterly Heartbreaking
Nine-year-old York, Pennsylvania kid Eden Ziegler Kohler was diagnosed with terminal cancer in August 2016. His concussion and collapse during football practice changed his life. He had intrinsic pontine glioma after doctors found a brain tumour from his brain stem to his cerebellum. Doctors thought Aiden had one year to live.
The news saddened Eden’s father, Bill Kohler, who fought for his son. After 17 years in the Army, he struggled with melancholy and anxiety after returning home in 2006. After Aiden was born, Bill started therapy and researched his son’s unusual cancer. He enquired about clinical trials in hopes of a medical breakthrough saving the youngster.
The family tried to squeeze as much life as possible between doctor visits and chemotherapy. They made memories with Aiden by crossing off his bucket list and funding his goals. Nearly $98,000 was donated by friends and relatives for the family’s trips.
