The community of Kraaifontein, Western Cape, is reeling in shock as a 26-year-old man is set to appear in court today after being found in possession of a firearm believed to have taken the life of 11-year-old Esmine Franke.Esmine was playing with her eight-year-old friend when tragedy struck. A stray bullet, allegedly fired during a violent incident in the area, fatally hit the young girl. Her death has since left her family, friends, and the wider community in mourning, sparking renewed calls for decisive action against rampant gun violence in Cape Town’s crime-ridden areas.

Police acted swiftly in tracking down the suspect, linking the weapon found in his possession to the bullet that killed Esmine.
