“Where is Kelly?” — Meyiwa family questions missing witnesses

The family of the late Bafana Bafana captain, Senzo Meyiwa, has expressed deep frustration over the ongoing murder trial, saying they are unhappy that key individuals who were present when Meyiwa was killed — including his then-girlfriend Kelly Khumalo and her mother — have not been called to testify or appear in court.
Speaking to the media outside the Pretoria High Court, family members said the slow pace of justice and what they describe as “selective prosecution” have only deepened their pain. “We don’t understand why the people who were in the house that night are not in the dock. Those are the people who know the truth,” a relative said.
Meyiwa was shot dead in October 2014 at Khumalo’s family home in Vosloorus. Five men — Muzikawushe Dube, Bongani Ntanzi, Mthobisi Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa, and Sifisokuhle Ntuli — are currently on trial for murder, robbery, and illegal possession of a firearm.
The case has been marred by allegations of police incompetence, political interference, and fabricated evidence. Critics and supporters alike have called for a fresh investigation into the possibility that the true perpetrators may still be at large.
Earlier this year, defence lawyers suggested that the crime scene was tampered with and that investigators deliberately ignored evidence implicating others. However, the National Prosecuting Authority insists that the case before the court is based on solid evidence and remains confident in its prosecution.
Nearly eleven years since his death, the Meyiwa family says they continue to seek closure and truth. “We just want justice for Senzo — real justice,” they said.
