A British mother has been convicted of two terrorism-related offences after saving £1,200 for one-way flights to Afghanistan, intending to join ISIS with her children. Farishta Jami, from Stratford-upon-Avon, was found guilty at Leicester Crown Court on Thursday on two counts of engaging in conduct in preparation for terrorism under the 2006 Terrorism Act.

The court heard that between September 2022 and January 2023, she made extensive plans to relocate to ISIS-controlled territories. Prosecutors presented evidence of Jami’s financial preparations and communications, which revealed her intent to travel and integrate into the terror group. Authorities intercepted her before she could carry out her plans, leading to her arrest and subsequent trial.

The conviction underscores the UK’s continued efforts to crack down on domestic radicalization and prevent individuals from joining terrorist organizations abroad. Jami now faces a possible prison sentence, with sentencing expected in the coming weeks.
