‘Screaming Hysterically’: Woman Mistakenly Uses Nail Glue Instead of Eye Drops

During an incident of blood sugar that occurred earlier in November, a diabetic woman from Sanford, Florida, was brought to the hospital after she accidentally put nail glue in her eye instead of eye drops.

Edie Brianne Shipley, who can be seen in the video, disclosed to Storyful that she suffers from type 2 diabetes and that she was going through a sugar episode in the middle of the night when her eye-drop alarm went off.

“I was half asleep and needed to put in my antibiotic drops, but instead of grabbing the eye drops, I picked up the Kiss nail glue,” Shipley says in the video, holding up the bottles that are quite similar in size. “After it happened, I was literally screaming hysterically, telling my phone to call 911, trying to wake my son up.

” As far as Shipley is concerned, the prompt action taken by her cousin in assisting her in flushing out the glue was ultimately what saved her sight. At least “three shards of superglue” were extracted from her left eye, according to her statement, and the physicians did “a great job” in removing them. “I do not believe that there will be any damage that is likely to be permanent. My eyelashes still have a small bit of adhesive on them, but other than that, I’m OK.
