“Prove I’m rogue” — Suspended cop Lt-Gen Sibiya hits back

Sibiya, who has been under fire following allegations of misconduct and interference in high-profile investigations, made the remarks in response to growing claims that he operated outside established police protocols. “Those who call me a rogue officer must come forward and prove it. I have always acted within the confines of the law and in the best interests of justice,” he said.

His statement comes amid mounting tensions between senior police officials, particularly following his explosive testimony at the Madlanga Commission, where he accused former KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, of undermining lawful investigations and misrepresenting facts to the public.

Sibiya’s suspension has been linked to allegations that he mishandled sensitive dockets and clashed with senior figures in the South African Police Service (SAPS). However, he insists the accusations are politically motivated. “This is part of a campaign to tarnish my name and silence those who refuse to bend to unlawful instructions,” he said.
