‘No Tears’: Father Finds Creative Way to Give Autistic Son a Haircut
An inventive solution to the issue was devised by a concerned father who, upon observing that the customary method of cutting his autistic son’s hair caused his child to suffer an overwhelming level of sensory stimulation, came up with a solution to the problem. In this short clip, Jeremy McFarland can be seen cutting his kid Jad’s hair in a kind manner. Jad is his son.
On the other hand, Jad’s mother, Elizabeth McFarland, was the one who was responsible for filming it. In an interview with Storyful, Elizabeth stated that the family has “struggled with haircuts for seven years for the past seven years.” The explanation that she provided was that the hair that was falling on her child would cause him to undergo sensory overload and meltdowns.

“One evening, we decided to trim his hair in the bathtub, and we were amazed by how calm he was,” she told me in her explanation. Videos that Elizabeth uploads to her TikTok account frequently reflect the trip that Jad has travelled with autism. Jad’s journey has been recounted in these videos. Elizabeth wrote on TikTok, “No tears, no anxiety,” for the first time. “No anxiousness.”
