Ndimande brothers give up legal battle — AKA murder case takes new turn

Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande, the two brothers accused of being involved in the murder of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his close friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, have officially abandoned their extradition appeal in Eswatini. The decision paves the way for their return to South Africa to face trial in one of the country’s most closely watched murder cases.
The Ndimande brothers were arrested in Mbabane, Eswatini, earlier this year after being linked to the fatal shooting of AKA and Motsoane outside a Durban restaurant in February 2023. Their arrest came after months of coordinated investigations between South African and Eswatini authorities.
News editor at Times Eswatini, Mbongiseni Ndzimandze, confirmed that the extradition process is now expected to move forward swiftly. “With the appeal officially abandoned, the extradition could happen soon. The paperwork and diplomatic coordination between the two countries are already at an advanced stage,” Ndzimandze said.
The brothers’ withdrawal of their appeal is being interpreted by legal analysts as a sign that the extradition process will no longer face significant delays. Once in South Africa, the Ndimandes are expected to join several other suspects who have already appeared in court in connection with the murder.
The case has drawn national attention, not only because of the victims’ fame but also due to the complex criminal network allegedly behind the coordinated hit. Law enforcement agencies have promised that justice will be served, stressing that the extradition marks a critical step toward resolving the high-profile case.South Africans continue to call for accountability and transparency in the investigation, with fans of AKA and Tibz urging authorities to ensure a fair and thorough trial once the suspects arrive.
