I formed this party — Nolubabalo Mcinga defies Floyd Shivambu after removal

Former Mayibuye Movement Deputy President Nolubabalo Mcinga has hit back at her suspension, declaring that she cannot be removed from a movement she helped to create.

Mcinga’s response follows her dismissal by party leader Floyd Shivambu over alleged political misconduct, including an unauthorised meeting with uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party leader Jacob Zuma.

In a fiery response, Mcinga dismissed Shivambu’s authority and accused him of acting out of fear and insecurity. “I cannot leave Mayibuye because I formed it. Floyd Shivambu is a coward,” she said. Mcinga insisted that her removal was unconstitutional and motivated by personal differences rather than genuine disciplinary grounds.

The fallout between Mcinga and Shivambu has exposed growing tensions within the newly formed Mayibuye Movement, which was launched earlier this year following Shivambu’s split from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). Political observers say the public spat risks destabilising the fledgling organisation and weakening its image ahead of future elections.

Party insiders allege that Mcinga’s meeting with Zuma was seen by the leadership as an act of betrayal, fuelling speculation about possible alliances between Mayibuye and the MK Party.

However, Mcinga maintains that her engagement was purely consultative and aimed at building unity among black political formations. The movement has yet to issue a formal statement addressing Mcinga’s claims, but sources say internal disciplinary processes are under way. Analysts warn that if unresolved, the leadership crisis could derail the party’s momentum before it fully establishes its political footing.
