Cape Town Spurs, the Motsepe Foundation Championship club, is on the verge of promotion to the DStv Premiership. With an impressive performance in the promotion/relegation playoffs, they currently lead the standings with nine points from three matches against Maritzburg United and Casric Stars.

The club’s remarkable run in the playoffs has put them in a favorable position to secure promotion to the top flight. Requiring just one more point, they are on the brink of denying Maritzburg United the opportunity to retain their top-flight status. Maritzburg United, with three points from two matches, still has a chance to reach nine points if they win their remaining two matches.

As Cape Town Spurs edges closer to promotion, rumors suggest that they have their eyes on a Mamelodi Sundowns player for their squad next season. The club is reportedly keen on signing the player, aiming to secure another deal with the Brazilians.

One player who has caught the attention of Cape Town Spurs is Luvuyo Phewa from Mamelodi Sundowns. Phewa joined Spurs on a season-long loan deal, but the club has bigger plans, considering their potential promotion to the top flight.

Phewa, a talented 23-year-old, is unlikely to be part of Sundowns’ squad for the 2023/24 season. This situation opens up the possibility of him being loaned out again by his parent club. Phewa has previously spent seasons on loan at Chippa United and University of Pretoria FC, indicating that another loan spell could be on the horizon if Sundowns doesn’t have alternative plans for him.
