The Hawks in Musina has launched a manhunt for suspects involved in a violent Cash-In-Transit robbery that took place in αΉ°hohoyanαΈou on Friday.
According to reports, three armed men ambushed a security officer who was transporting cash from a shop to an armored vehicle. The suspects opened fire, seizing a trolley bag filled with money before attempting to flee.
A shootout ensued between the robbers and security personnel, leaving one suspect dead and two people, including a 14-year-old schoolgirl injured. The wounded individuals, along with the security officer, were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
The deceased suspect was identified as Muungulwa Dakalo (36) from Tshilungoma village. He was out on parole at the time of the incident.
Authorities managed to recover the stolen cash, along with a firearm, cartridges, ammunition, a cellphone, and a magazine at the scene. However, other suspects fled in a white Toyota Quantum without registration plates and remain at large.
The Hawks have opened a case of robbery with aggravating circumstances.
