Today marks 18 years since 23-year-old Ryan Woolley was fatally shot outside a takeaway shop in Wavertree, Liverpool. Despite multiple trials, no one has been convicted for the killing.

Woolley was shot five times at close range while collecting a pizza from a shop on Picton Road. He had previously been arrested in connection with an unrelated fatal shooting, though no charges were brought against him in that case.

Police at the time described the murder as a suspected “gangland-style killing.” Woolley died at the scene before emergency services could intervene.

Three individuals were later charged and brought to trial for the alleged killing, but all were acquitted due to lack of sufficient evidence. Detectives have continued to appeal for information over the years, stressing that the case remains unsolved.

The murder sent shockwaves through the Wavertree community and remains a point of pain for Woolley’s family. Local residents have continued to call for justice, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward.

Merseyside Police have reiterated their appeal for fresh leads, asking witnesses or anyone with relevant details to contact the force or Crimestoppers anonymously.
